Manuel:
[0:04] 40,000!
Manuel:
[0:06] Yeah.
Jae:
[0:06] 40,000 what?
Manuel:
[0:09] That's how many people move to Berlin every single year.
Jae:
[0:15] Wow, that's crazy! It's about to be 40,001 soon!
Manuel:
[0:20] 40,001 people are moving to Berlin! Jae, you're moving to Berlin in a few months and you're almost scarily prepared! You are prepared very well. But I feel like given your awesome preparedness and my experience having lived here for many years, we can maybe create a document, a living document of all the things you need to know when you're moving to Berlin. Or maybe you've already moved here and there's still some things you should know about.
Jae:
[0:57] I think that's a great idea, and I think this podcast will serve as a refresher or an educator for people who are interested in living in Berlin, or who have already moved to Berlin and are looking to get a little bit more insights on different types of things that they can do here. I am grateful to have the guidance of Manuel as I do this journey, and I am so excited to see where it leads us because we're about to document real time me actually moving to Berlin. I'm currently in Austin, Texas, right now, and you guys will see how we prepare to get to Berlin.
Manuel:
[1:34] All of a sudden, I feel a lot of responsibility. This is a big project.
Jae:
[1:38] It's all in your hands.
Manuel:
[1:41] But yeah, we'll talk about everything. We'll talk about kind of the basics, you know, like the visa, the Anmeldung, finding an apartment, finding a bank account, you know, all that basic stuff. But then I want to go beyond that and talk about what it's like actually living here, how to make friends, how to find a job, what it's like being a certain kind of person in Berlin, what it's like being a programmer here, what it's like being a musician here. I have a lot of ideas for things to talk about with you and hopefully many other people. I hope that we will have guests on this show. So if you're interested in contributing, helping us do this show, then go to everyone.berlin — what an amazing URL! — and there will be a way to send us a message or an email. And if you want to be a guest on the show or maybe you have a topic idea or request, then you can let us know. And I am really excited to start this podcast with you, Jae.
Jae:
[2:48] Me too. I'm excited, Manuel. I think this will be amazing, and I am looking forward to all the support that we're going to get with it. And I hope that we are able to help and inspire you guys to move to Berlin, and if you're already in Berlin, to enjoy your time here.
